I hope that my works will inspire curiosity and goodwill in others.
Being creative is a way of life for me. Sculpture is one of the ways the creative process awakens and cultivates my imaginative mind. I am curious about everything. Exploring how I work in the creative process has enabled me to open myself to new images, ideas and possibilities. Making the commitment of time, materials, and limiting distractions is not as easy as it sounds, but I do this because I am filled with an insatiable desire to work this way. Energy begins to come together as the work begins, and then there is usually a struggle. And then the exciting realization of a new form emerges from the material as if almost by itself. The new form now stands on its own and reveals its character and essence. Sharing the form with others provides a time of reflection and critique. Working in this way brings me great joy and wholeness to my life.
My works are graceful organic forms with bronze and silver finishes, satin surfaces complimented by shiny ones inspired by nature, architecture and life's journey. The shapes are constructed with slabs and coils fabricated from white high fire stoneware and more recently porcelain. Ajour, relief, texturing, special glazes and patinas further interpret the design.
